Pros/Cons

  • French cuisine, but casual enough to go to without feeling self-conscious.
  • Easy to make last minute reservations
  • Bottles of wine are in the $70s and up, relatively reasonable for a French restaurant.
  • Quality of customer service, wine was not poured without prompting, etc.

Atmosphere

Appearance

The restaurant is located along Amoy St. in China town and can be reached by walking from Tanjong Pagar. The restaurant is very open and you can see the inside from the outside. It has the stylishness of a French restaurant, but at the same time, it has a casual atmosphere. In fact, it is very easy to enter. You don’t feel a high threshold in a good way.

Interior

The interior of the restaurant is relatively dimly lit and has a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant mainly seats four people at tables, but tables for large groups were also available.

This is the second floor. The second floor has tables for two and counter seating. The first floor is for groups, and the second floor is for pairs.

The interior of the restaurant is stylish and relaxed, yet very casual. It is a restaurant that is easy to use on a daily basis. In fact, the restaurant was used for a variety of purposes, including use by large groups, groups of two men, groups of two women, and couples.

Food

Eating

Now I would like to introduce the menu we actually ordered this time. But first, let’s start with beer. Cheers!

SEABASS CEVICHE $24

For my first dish, I ordered SEABASS CEVICHE from STARTERS, which is generally made by marinating raw seafood in a sour liquid (usually lime or lemon juice). A very large piece of seabass is generously drizzled with lime and olive oil, giving the fresh fish a refreshing taste. It is a great appetizer to go with drinks. It tastes even better in a hot country like Singapore.

BABY CHICKEN (Half size) with green salad. $19

The next item I ordered was the BABY CHICKEN. The chicken was grilled to perfection, and it was delicious. You can choose between Half and Whole size (Whole size is $38.) There are several choices of SIDE menu and SAUCE, and this time I chose Green salad and Black pepper.

The half size is just right for two people to share. The chicken by itself is very salty and tasty, but the black pepper sauce is a nice change of taste and makes the meal more enjoyable.

BEEF RAGGU $24

For my third dish, I ordered the BEEF RAGGU from PASTA. It was served in a tomato-based sauce with meaty beef and cheese. The pasta was a long, flat pasta with wide noodles. Because of the flatness of these pasta noodles, they intertwined well with the rich sauce. The beef is used sparingly, making the pasta firm and satisfying. Very tasty!

Access

It can be accessed from either CHINA TOWN MRT station or Tanjong Pagar station. It is about a 10-minute walk from either station.

Summary

This time I visited at about 8pm on a weekend. I was looking for a restaurant where we could make a last minute reservation and found this restaurant. I was actually a little apprehensive at first about being able to make a reservation at the last minute on a weekend night, but when I actually went, it turned out to be a very nice restaurant.

The lineup includes a wide variety of wine bottles starting at $70 and up, making it a very casual place to go and good for everyday use.

You should definitely check it out. It is a highly recommended French restaurant.
