General Review

I found a very good yakitori restaurant 😀

A la carte orders are accepted from 10:30 PM, and until then, only omakase courses seem to be available. Therefore, reservations can be made for the first slot from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM or 6:30 PM-8:30 PM or the second slot from 8:00 PM-10:00 PM or 8:30 PM-10:30 PM.

The quality of the yakitori itself is very high and the omakase course is very generous! It was a wonderful yakitori restaurant that will surely satisfy you.

The restaurant itself has a very secluded feel, and you can enjoy food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.

I am really happy to have found such a Yakitori restaurant in Singapore! I highly recommend this restaurant 😃

Atmosphere

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of Orchard Plaza in Orchard. There are many Japanese restaurants and bars in this area. This is the exterior of the restaurant.

The restaurant has seven seats at the counter and one table. It is not a large restaurant, but I personally like it very much because of its secluded atmosphere. When you open the door, there are counter seats just in front of you.

I visited on a Friday at 8pm and the restaurant was packed. The popularity of the restaurant is evident.

Various types of sake and shochu are lined up in the kitchen. You can see the master grilling live in front of the counter.

Incidentally, the master is half-Singaporean and half-Japanese, and has been trained in yakitori in Japan for many years.

Food

Menu

Here is the menu list. Since only Omakase-courses are available at this time, I decided to order the standard “Fukuda’s Omakase Course. In addition to this, there was also the “Premuum Omakase Course.

This course includes 5 kinds of appetizers, 10 kinds of skewers and a meal. I am very much looking forward to seeing what kind of dishes will be served 🤭

COEDO beer is also available. Hmmm…nostalgic!

Eating

Anyhow, let’s start with a beer…it’s SAPPORO! Thanks for a great week! Cheers 🍻

First came the oshinko (Japanese pickles).

Soon after, an assortment of appetizers arrived. It is beautiful to look at…scallops, marinated chicken, liver paste, etc.

While enjoying the appetizers, I quickly ran out of beer, so I ordered another beer. I decided to order a COEDO “white” beer. After all, white beer is easy to drink!

And here is where the long awaited skewers begin!

First came the scallops, and then the quail 😄 Well, starting with the scallops was a nice surprise!

Next comes the royalty, the white meat and negima! They are grilled to perfection!

Next came the chicken salad. Lots of chicken and a good volume. Very tasty!

After a palate cleanser with the Chicken Salad, the fatty liver and the Hatsu (chicken) make their appearance! The quality of the meat is very good, very juicy and filling.

I ran out of beer here, so we shifted to shochu. I ordered a glass of shochu on the rocks, which was a surprise! It may be a little hard to tell from the picture, but the glass is huge! It’s about 1.5 times the size of a regular one 😳The price is not particularly high, so this is a great deal!

And next came, to my surprise, eels! This was another surprise in a good way! Thick and delicious!

And here is the next one. This is the chicken wing. They are very large and hearty. The saltiness of the wings makes them perfect with sake.

What a surprise, here we were offered another dish, a wonderful gizzard salad! What a luxury 🤭!

At this point, I was getting rather full. lol However, the skewers are still being grilled. Next come the zucchini and bonjiri. They are so delicious that you can eat them easily.

And here is the tsukune as the big winner of the skewers. Mmmm, beautiful! When dipped in this rich egg, it was a thing of beauty 🤭.

When the skewers are finished, we are served chicken soup. The chicken broth is very well prepared and has a rich yet soothing taste.

Finally, you can choose between oyako-don and soboro-don as your meal. I decided to have the oyako-don. As a yakitori restaurant, the quality of the chicken is very good and the egg is rich, making it a high quality oyakodon.

I was quite full. There are so many items in the course that many of you may not be able to finish it. But don’t worry, they will take away the portions you can’t finish 😁.

Price

  • Fukuda’s Omakase Course $78
  • Sappro Bottled Beer $10.8
  • COEDO White Beer $15.8
  • Sweet Potato Shochu on the rocks $13.8

The food is delicious, and what can I say, there are a lot of items and you will be quite full! The price is not cheap, but I think the satisfaction level is quite high 😁.

Summary

I found a very good yakitori restaurant 😁.

It is a wonderful place to enjoy delicious yakitori and sake while relaxing and talking with friends and partners.

The courses are generous in volume, so please make sure you are hungry when you go!

This is a highly recommended specialty restaurant that will surely satisfy you!

Now, can I find a Yakitori restaurant in Singapore that surpasses FUKUDA’s 😅?
