General review

You will be served innovative Korean cuisine that will change your concept of Korean food. I have never had Korean food like this before! The concept is a fusion of Korean and French cuisine, and each dish is extremely sophisticated.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice, with traditional Korean décor but with the feel of a European-style restaurant.

All the dishes were very good, especially the “Abalone Cold Noodles” which was a must-try 😃I have never had such a delicious cold noodle 😃

It is a highly recommended restaurant where you can enjoy Korean food with a difference from the usual. ☺️

Atmosphere

Appearance

The restaurant is located along TRAS Street in Tanjong Pagar. Tanjong Pagar is a mecca for gourmets with a large number of restaurants. Korean food, in particular, is a hotbed of competition.

From the outside, ANJU gives off a sophisticated atmosphere that is different from other Korean restaurants.

Interior

The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely meal. These tables are set up just inside the entrance.

Entering the back side of the restaurant, you will find a row of sofa seats. While decorated in a Korean style, the interior is very stylish. It has a mature atmosphere.

This time we visited around 6:30 p.m. on a weekend. We had to make a reservation because the restaurant was full in no time.

Food

Menu

For the menu list, read the QR with your phone. Orders are given directly to the waiter.

This is the Food Menu. There are not so many items on the menu, but personally, I find it easier to choose if there are not so many items on the menu, and I can trust that they are carefully selected.

Eating

Now I would like to introduce the actual dishes I ordered.

First of all, let’s start with beer 🍺 Cheers!

Yuk Hoe ($28)

This is beef tartare with a Korean twist. I never thought I would be able to eat tartare in a Korean restaurant 😋 and it is so delicious! It is much higher quality than the tartare you can get at the French restaurants around here.

This tartare is served on a bed of fried Korean seaweed. This combination is the best of the best. The meat is cut into relatively large pieces, so it is very chewy, and it seems to be mixed with Korean pear. It is a wonderful dish that is arranged in a Korean style, but still makes full use of the flavors of the ingredients. If you go there, please order it. ☺️

Hogan Jeon *Add Mozzarella Cheese ($26+$3)

This is what is called a pancake. The waitress introduced this as the restaurant’s recommended menu item. It was also very tasty. ☺️

The texture of the crispy baked dough is great, and it is filled with melted cheese and plump shrimp. It is served with Onion Pickle Sauce. It’s a happy moment 😋.

You can choose between no cheese and with cheese (+$3), and I would highly recommend the one with cheese.

Abalone Gim Pasta ($34)

Large abalone is placed on top of cold noodles seasoned with seaweed.

This cold noodle was too good. At the same time that it was the best menu item of this time, I encountered the best cold noodles in the history of my life😋.

I had never had cold noodles with seaweed before and was surprised at how well they went together. The flavor and throatiness of the seaweed seasoning on the cold noodles, which can be eaten neatly, is superb! And when you eat it with this meaty abalone, you are at the peak of happiness! The chewy texture is irresistible😃

I ate it too vigorously and it was gone too soon lol.

Baek Kimchi ($7)

It said White Kimchi, so I wondered what it was like. I ordered it out of curiosity. This was just a normal pickled Chinese cabbage.

Ssam Bob ($10)

Korean rice is rolled in savoy cabbage and served with a gochujang-like sauce. Each roll is small enough to be eaten lightly in one bite.

It is nice to have rice with this pick-me-up. Savoy cabbage has a very soft texture. The spicy sauce is also a very good combination and whets your appetite. This was also very tasty 😋.

Bossam ($50)

One of ANJU’s signature dishes is bosam. Bossam is a famous Korean home-style dish. Although the pork is fatty, it is not tasteless at all, and you can feel that the meat is of high quality. The meat is also very tender.

This pork is wrapped in lettuce with mushrooms and radish kimchi. This is Korean style. 🇰🇷 How can this not be delicious? You can’t stop eating it.

Cameo Makgeolli ($35)

Since it was Korean food, I also had makgeolli with it. This makgeolli is so good! It is mellow, slightly sweet, and just so easy to drink 😋 It was so easy to drink that I felt in danger lol.

I have never had such a delicious makgeolli 😃 I highly recommend ordering this makgeolli for your drinks!

Sweet Potato ($18)

Last but not least, dessert. I was quite full, but I could still eat something sweet on a separate stomach 😝 This Sweet Potato was also very tasty.

Thanks for the food!

Access

Take the green MRT East West Line and get off at Tanjong Pagar Station. 5 minutes’ walk from Exit A will get you to the restaurant.

Summary

It really changes your concept of Korean food. The atmosphere is great and the quality of each dish is high. All the dishes we ordered this time were a hit 😃If I were forced to rank them,

1.Abalone Gim Pasta 2.Yuk Hoe 3.Ssam Bob

The price is not a cheap restaurant, but I thought it was well worth it. It is a very good experience.

It’s kind of cool to know about this restaurant. I’m sure you will be very satisfied, so I encourage everyone to try it!
